Teardrop Banners

Teardrop Banners, (sometimes called teardrop flags) are portable and practical for both indoor and outdoor use. As you can see from the video at the foot of the page, they can be set up anywhere! As can be seen from the illustration, they are available in a wide variety of sizes (table top versions in even smaller sizes are also available right down to about 14” in height).

Generally, teardrop banners are printed, single sided on nylon or polyester and your new teardrop banner will usually be supplied with a flexible, fibreglass and powder coated aluminium pole and a ground spike for soft surfaces.

For indoor use of teardrop banners, a cross base is available and for outdoor use on hard surfaces it is highly recommended that for additional stability the cross base is used in conjunction with a pvc water bag. These bags fit securely to the cross-base and when filled with water weigh between nine and twelve kilograms which is a sensible option if conditions are windy. It would be a sensible precaution to check with your supplier what the wind loading for the size of teardrop banner and weight of base that you are intending to purchase, for example a four metre banner with a twelve kilogram base would be safe to use in wind speeds of up to approximately 40 km/hour. You will need this information for your risk assessment.

Teardrop banners can also be printed on both sides and in this instance the two printed faces are bonded onto a light block layer. Because these banners are so often used outdoors for trade fairs and events, the printing is designed to withstand just about anything that the elements can throw at it, from blazing sun, to pouring rain.

Because teardrop banners can be supplied in heights of up to around four metres, they allow your company to have high visibility across a crowded outdoor area – in the same way as floating a blimp or balloon above your stand would be visible from a long way away. This pays dividends when clients you have invited to the event are trying to find your stand and also when your graphic is particularly attractive or displaying a special offer that people will want to find out about.

For outdoor events, a line of these teardrop banners or teardrop flags at the start line or finish line of races will help to spur entrants on when the finish line quite literally, comes into sight. At the entrances and exits to showgrounds they really do look stunning and eyecatching and help visitors to navigate their way around the show.

The Banner part of the teardrop banner has a sleeve into which the pole fits. The pole is generally tapered and in sections that fit together, the thinnest at the top. This enables the whole banner to be packed into a carry bag for transport and storage. If the banner has been used outdoors, it should always be dried before storage and will provide many uses. Teardrop banners are a very economical and cost effective way of advertising your company, your product or your special offer.
